case study - Alexandra Burke




Aleaxndra was born in 1988 in Islington, London. Her middle names come from her great grandmother and grandfather, also her mothers maiden name. Her father was born in Jamaica and her mother was born in Britain of a Jamaican, Irish and dougla descent. She also has four brothers and one sister. Alexandra had no proffesional vocal training and at the age of nine sang in Bahrain with her mother. At the age of 12 Alexandra entered the TV talent show star for a night where she was the youngest person in the competition but was beaten by Joss Stone.

Alexandra attended Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School
in Islington and after her GCSE's she left school to pursue a career in music. Before her X Factor success, she had been working as a singer, gigging at weekends in clubs.[ She also went on tour with "Young Voices", a charity that raises money for children with Leukemia, where she performed at large venues such as the Royal Albert Hall.

Alexandra (Imelda Cecelia Ewan) Burke was born in 1988, in London. Alexandra is an english singer who made her claim to fame through winning the fifth series of television show The X Factor. Alexandra won a £1 million recording contract with Simons cowells recording label - Syco.

In 2008 aleandra became the current European record for single sales over a period of 24 hours selling 105,000 copies of her debut single Hallelujah in one day. Hallelujah made it to christmas no one in 2008 it was also anounced top selling song
of 2008.
